By becoming a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Couple or Big Family you can truly influence the life of a child, and you will both be forever changed by the experience. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Helena offers a variety of volunteer experiences. We have several different programs, each serving a unique population of children.
The Community Program
Serves children ages 6-14 in our local community. We serve children from all different backgrounds and neighborhoods. We ask
volunteers for an 12 month commitment to spend a few hours each week with the child. Big Brothers are matched with Little Brothers,
and Big Sisters are matched with Little Sisters or with younger Little Brothers ages 5-8. We also match Big Couples and Big
Families with one child. Activities may include going to the park, walking the dog, going fishing, participating in arts and crafts
projects, cooking dinner together, or other activities they both enjoy.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a valid Montana Drivers License
- Have had no DUI within the past 2 years
- Have not been convicted of a felony within the past 7 years
- Are not currently on probation with the law
- Can provide proof of car insurance
The School Program
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Helena has partnered with area schools to offer volunteer opportunities within the school environment. The School-based Programs are very flexible and work around the volunteers' schedules, while still allowing volunteers and children to form meaningful relationships. Volunteers need to commit for the school year and meet with their student for 1 hour a week Volunteers have fun helping their students with academics, talking, playing games, or doing arts and crafts activities.
- Must be at least a Sophomore in High School or older
- Must have Parent Permission if under the age of 18
- Have not been convicted of a felony within the past 7 years
- Are not currently on probation with the law
